About ePublication Archive
The Science and Technology Facilities Council was formed in 2007, by the merger of the Council for the Central Laboratory of the Research Councils (CCLRC) and the Particle Physics and Astronomy Council (PPARC).
The ePublications archive is a Library Committee sponsored project which aims to collect information on the academic output of the Science and Technology Facilities Council, from both authors and facility users.
Aims & Objectives
- Build a central repository of publications containing the scientific and technical output of Science and Technology Facilities Council accessible to the public.
- Allow for some publications remaining accessible to Science and Technology Facilities Council staff only.
- Expand the service to include archiving & giving access to the full text where copyright allows it.
- Give departments and individuals the ability to manage information on their publications.
- Generate lists of publications using various different selection criteria.
- Use technology so that it is accessible to as many people/services as possible.

Technical outline
The ePublications archive has been created using an Oracle database, Cocoon and XML. It is Open Archive Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) compliant which means that it can be cross-searched together with other OAI-PMH compliant archives.
